The 2008/11 Crime & Disorder and Substance misuse plan highlights violent crime as a key concern for the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Communities Partnership (NABSCOP) to address in the coming year. The Priority Crime group will be the delivery arm for NABSCOP overseeing progress on the 2008/11 action plan. Domestic Abuse accounts for a significant proportion of all violent crime and due to the increased efforts to encourage reporting it is anticipated that these figures will continue to rise. The launch of the Warwickshire Against Domestic Abuse talk2someone campaign took place at the Early Years Centre, Camp Hill Primary School on the 3rd June 2008 to raise awareness of Domestic Abuse and the new web site. Violent crime other than Domestic Abuse is actually reducing.

Enhanced Police Initiative  (EPI) is consistently resourced on Friday/Saturday nights and extended to Sundays and bank holiday weekends, resources have been pre-planned until January to provide resilience assurance of resource numbers. This offers better protection from harm by an effective police presence at times most likely to produce serious violence. Initial findings from the Domestic Abuse projects funded by the LAA and CDRP show a reduction in violent incidents. It is hoped that these reductions will be reflected in future statistics.
